Appearance & Mechanical Features

Proform Pro 2000 vs NordicTrack 1750

Proform Pro 2000 Treadmill

Powerful and robust, both the machines are full-sized and of the foldable variety. The Space saver design of these treadmills helps to fold the treadmill when not in use, saving up some space. The NordicTrack Commercial 1750 is marginally bigger than the Proform 2000 in all dimensions, but it is not significant enough to cause an inconvenience. However, the heavy weight of both these machines is a limiting factor in their portability and even for folding – despite the EasyLift Assist feature of these two machines. Customers also report the difficulty in setting up these machines for use owing to their large size and the heavy weight.

Both the machines have a 2.5 inch–sized rear roller and a similar-sized running deck of 22 inches by 60 inches. This makes the treadmill comfortable for even the taller, faster runners.

The belt size of both the machines along with the same deck size and both the machines are equipped with a 2-ply belt. This makes the belts less susceptible to wear and tear.

Motor Power

The NordicTrack 1750 is slightly more powerful than the Proform Pro 2000 due to the 3.8 CHP motor fitted in. The Proform Pro has a 3.5 CHP motor.

Weight capacity

Their respective official websites claim a user identical weight capacity of 300 pounds for both these machines.

Speed Settings

Both the Proform and Nordic machines are designed to have a maximum speed up to 12 MPH, which is sufficient enough for everyone, including fast runners. The speed can be increased or decreased quickly with no break in your stride.

Incline & Decline

Both machines have identical settings with a maximum incline of 15% and a maximum decline of 3%. However, there have been complaints with the incline feature of Proform Pro 2000 citing that the incline goes out of calibration often.

Display

This is the biggest difference between these two in-home treadmills. The Proform Pro 2000 has a dual color backlit display of 7 inches. Although the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 display is of the same size at 7 inches, it is vastly ahead of the Proform by having a full-color and HD touchscreen display. To add to this, the NordicTrack display is web-enabled. One can easily watch videos or surf the net online while using the NordicTrack treadmill. As per the customers, lack of Internet connectivity is a serious downside of the Proform Pro 2000, limiting the entertainment to iFit programs, or using your tablet.

Workout Programs

The Proform Pro 2000 has 32 built-in workout programs, whereas the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 has a slightly higher number of programs, at 38.

Shock Absorber

This is essential to ensure that you can run smoothly and also limit the damage to your soft tissues. The cushioning of the deck in both the treadmills, though efficient, is different. The NordicTrack Commercial 1750 has a less often seen, adjustable cushioning option. The RunnersFlex cushioning in this machine can be turned ON or OFF depending on your preference to run on rigid or gentle surfaces. In comparison, the Proform Pro 2000 also comes with a ProShox cushioning, albeit without the adjustable feature.

Heart Rate Monitoring

The efficiency of your workout is determined by your heart rate. Both the treadmills are equipped with heart rate monitoring features. The NordicTrack Commercial 1750 has inbuilt handgrip sensors with a wireless chest strap. The Proform Pro 2000 also comes with a wireless chest strap and a dual-grip EKG heart rate monitor.

Additional Features

Both the treadmills are iFit compatible. However, the Proform Pro 2000 requires the wireless iFit module, which is sold separately. This adds to the cost of the machine if you intend to use iFit. Also, the iFit experience with both the machines will be vastly different due to the different consoles and the lack of color on Proform Pro 2000 console.

Both the machines have built-in accessories tray, tablet holder, and water bottle holders. The tablet holders can be adjusted and positioned so as not to obstruct your view of the console. The accessories tray and the water bottle holders ensure that you have everything with you that you need for a comfortable workout.

Both the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 and Proform Pro 2000 also have built-in cooling fans. However, the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 has two built-in cooling fans as compared to the single fan in Proform Pro 2000. The noise made by the fans has troubled a few users of the NordicTrack treadmill though.

Like most of the treadmills in their range, both these machines are iPod compatible and have built-in iPod ports with two speakers to keep you entertained during your workout.

Warranty

Both the treadmills come with a lifetime warranty on the motor and frame, 5-year warranty on other parts and 2-year warranty on labor. However, some customers reported instances from both manufacturers of poor and slow customer service and it takes a while to get an adequate response from them.

Summary

The NordicTrack Commercial 1750, with its full-color, web-enable, touchscreen display and adjustable cushioning is the preferred in-home treadmill for someone who is looking for a complete workout experience.

Both these in-home treadmills are in the below-1500$ range (Do note that the prices of these machines can change due to a sale and vary based on retailer). However, the NordicTrack Commercial 1750 is slightly more expensive than the Proform Pro 2000.

If cost is your primary concern then Proform Pro 2000 is also an absolutely reliable and quality machine, and will definitely be suited for your workout needs, albeit with fewer features. Also, the cost difference is not so significant if you factor in buying the iFit module separately.
