The Podster is larger than the Boppy – longer, wider and taller, which means baby won’t outgrow it so quickly. If your baby is long, the Podster could be a better option for you.

The Boppy is a more budget-friendly option than the Podster (although, you never know, a sale could change that). The Podster comes with a removable cover which makes clean-up a breeze. This appears to be the primary reason users select the Podster over the Boppy if they were tossing up between the two. However, the Boppy’s fabric is wipeable, and the entire lounger is washable. Users have found it doesn’t tend to stain. You can also purchase or sew your own cover for the Boppy if a washable cover is necessary. Some users have even suggested using a waterproof liner to make it diaper-free time compatible – a great idea!

 Versatility

There are almost endless usages for infant loungers which make these an attractive option. They’re both versatile and nice and light for transporting – both weighing only 3lbs. You can easily tuck your lounger under your arm and carry baby in the other when moving around.

The Podster has movable tabs allowing you to modify the reclining position of baby and how closely they’re snuggled in by the supports of the lounger. This makes the Podster a bit more versatile as you can change the angle they lounge at as they grow. The tabs are out of the way of the lounging area where your baby reclines, so you don’t need to be concerned about little fingers or toes getting caught.

Both can be used as breastfeeding pillows, although the Boppy is smaller. This might be better for you as you can get baby closer to your body with a smaller pillow. Some users have also mentioned it makes a deliciously comfortable pillow for mom.

Many users have reported that as their babies have grown out of the lounger, they still love to sit on it or lay on it, even as they start toddling. Some users have even reported their pets have inherited it after their child has grown out of the lounger. Any product that can do multiple duties is always a bonus!

Comfort

The Boppy lounger is firmer than the Podster and has a padded seat. This offers a lot of firm support for baby. The Podster has a sling seat, which when used with the versatile tabs, can accommodate a smaller or larger baby comfortably. The tabs also allow you to ensure you have a perfect fit for your baby.

Some users have found the Boppy, because it is more firm, offers more support to their little ones which makes them feel more comfortable using it. Some users were concerned about how soft the Podster is. They are concerned baby could sink into it and have their airways blocked. Other users were thrilled with the softness of the Podster, feeling it was more comfortable for baby and offered a more snuggly lounging experience.

Some other users were frustrated with the cover on the Podster as after a couple of washes; they found it difficult to stop bunching up around the sides. Some users were concerned the looser cover could be a safety issue for baby.

Longevity

With the washable cover, the Podster was a clear favourite for many users. Because the cover is washable, the Podster can be treated easily with stain remover, and the cover even soaked if necessary. Despite these positives, as mentioned above some users found the more they washed the cover on the Podster, the less snuggly it fit. Some users have also found the seams of the cover eventually begin to fray.

The Boppy is washable, but as it doesn’t have a removable cover, it can be a bit of a hassle to dry. Even still, most users reported no fading in the fabric even after years of use. While this could be because many users cover the Boppy with a burping cloth, and it simply doesn’t get as much exposure to light and washing, the fact that no fraying, visible wear or fading is apparent is excellent.

A small number of users reported the Podster felt less firm, and sometimes lumpy after being used for multiple children. It should be noted this complaint was only reported by a very small number of users and may be a subjective opinion. On the other hand, the Boppy is not known to change densities or feel.

Safety

Some users of both the Boppy and the Podster were very concerned about the safety of infant loungers. This applies to all loungers and other baby accessories, not just the Boppy and Podster. Users cautioned that the loungers are best for young babies who cannot roll, and babies should never be placed on their tummies on the loungers. Please always supervise your baby while using these products. Both companies recommend you do not let your baby sleep in the lounger.

Warranty

Both of these infant loungers come with a 12-month warranty. As you’d expect with this kind of product, we’ve found very few issues about the qualities of these products. Customer service for both companies appears to be adequate for customers who have dealt with them.
