Appearance and Size

Rowenta IS6200

The appearance of both of these garment steamers is all but the same. But you easily tell them apart by their color. The Black and blue Rowenta IS6200 rivals the Purple IS6300 in the looks department. They both have a modern look and feel. They both seem very solid.

They are roughly the same size. They will be around 48 inches tall when the telescopic pole is collapsed and about 65 inches when it’s extended.

Power and Performance

These machines are both powerful and are capable of steaming more than just clothing items. You can use them on your couches, curtains and rugs as well. And the steam can get hot enough to actually kill germs, bacteria and odors like cigarette smoke.

These machines have several similarities and differences. The important specs are listed just below.

​Wattage

The Rowenta IS6300 has 1550 watts of power while the 6200 is rated at 1500. The power output will be about the same. Bottom line, they are both powerful and will help you to diffuse powerful burst of steam. I haven’t really come across any folks that complain about the performance as far as steam output is concerned.

Steam Head

Steam output is also influenced by the size of the steam head. Both of these machines have large steam heads which will help you to have powerful burst of steam in one setting.

Adjustable Telescopic Poles

Both machines have adjustable telescopic poles that extend up to about 5.5 feet tall. Particularly tall people may experience a bit of awkwardness when trying to use either of these machines. A potential solution is for you to hang your garment on a door and use that instead of the poles.

Press Support

Only the Rowenta IS6300 comes with the press support. Press support gives you with a flat surface to press your clothes against and hold them in place while steaming. Many folks, especially those who’ve used other garment steamers sans the support, swear by it. Others find it a nuisance. On the whole, it seems to be a great additional feature.

Hose and Curtain Extension

The hose for both of these machines is about 5 ½ feet, this allows you to easily reach your curtains. Both models have these features.

Large Steam Tank

The steam tank for both is 81 oz and will provide you with about 45 minutes to one hour of constant steam. The tanks are also see-through, so you will be able to see when you are running out of water, it’s a simple a yet very convenient feature.

Convenient Features

To make operation as stress free as possible both of these models come with some thoughtful features.

• For one, and possibly the most important, you can simply lean the machine back towards you and roll it with the wheels – like a suitcase. This added portability ensures that you don’t strain yourself when trying to relocate your steamer.

• Controls are located on the base of the machine for foot operation. This applies to both units.

• The large capacity removable water tanks make for easy filling. This is a very convenient feature that goes a long way to improve usability.

• Hanger clips allow you to conveniently clip on your pants and align them along the crease. Both of these steamer have that feature.

• On both, the steam hook is located in the middle of the unit. So, it can become a nuisance when you try to get your clothes on and off the hanger.

• The built-in hangers are convenient for some and annoying for others. Here’s why: with a regular hanger, you can steam one side of your garment, then easily turn the hanger around, you can’t do this with the built-in hanger. This can be an issue if you have limited space.

Attachments

The Rowenta IS6200 has the follow attachments: crease tool, a fabric brush, and a lint brush. And the 6300 comes with a lint brush, a steam bonnet (for very delicate items), and a fabric brush.

Both of these machines come with one-year warranty.
