Husqvarna 435 vs Stihl 211 Chainsaw Comparison

Appearance

The Husqvarna 435 and Stihl 211 are both powerful, handheld, 16 inch-chain saws, meant for personal use. Both of these chainsaws are similar in design with their sleek and stylish, black and orange-red finish. However, the Husqvarna 435 is more ergonomically designed and has an asymmetrical handle with a soft inlay, and therefore this chainsaw is relatively easier to use for longer periods of time. The Husqvarna 435 also has a snap-lock cylinder cover that makes it easy to remove it and helps save time when changing spark plugs and while cleaning the chainsaw. Husqvarna 435 is also a more durable machine as it uses a forged, 3-piece crankshaft.

Being handheld, weight is a major aspect to consider in the functionality of these chainsaws. The Husqvarna 435 weighs marginally less than Stihl 235 (Husqvarna weight 9.2 lbs as compared to 9.3 lbs of Stihl 411) and easier to use as compared to the Stihl 211. It is this lightweight feature of the Husqvarna 435 really appeals to the customers who have bought this chainsaw. The range of recommended length of the guide bar in both the chainsaws is similar – Stihl recommends the range of 12 to 18 inches for its 211 model, and Husqvarna recommends 13 to 18 inches range for the 435 model.

Power

Even though the Husqvarna 435 is lightweight, it is power-packed and has the engine power of 2.2 Horsepower and with a 40.9 cc engine. The Stihl 211 is similar in power with 2.3 Horsepower and 35.2 cc engine.

Fuel Capacity

Both the chainsaws use gas as fuel. Even though the Stihl 211 is heavier than the Husqvarna 435, its fuel capacity is significantly lower. Where the Husqvarna 435 has a fuel tank capacity of 12.5 fluid ounces, the Stihl lag behind with 9.5 fluid ounces. The X-Torq feature in Husqvarna 435 makes this chainsaw very efficient at conserving fuel. Although Stihl 211 is also more fuel-efficient than a few other chainsaws, it loses to Husqvarna 435 in this department. Moreover, Husqvarna 435 has also made it easy to check the fuel level by having a transparent fuel tank.

Starting the Chainsaw

Stihl 211 features the exclusive, ElastoSTART starter handle. This not only makes for a powerful grip but also has an inbuilt shock absorber, which makes it easy to start the chainsaw. Thanks to an in-built quick start system and the air purge which eliminates air from the carburetor and the fuel system, the Husqvarna 435 also claims to have a safe and quick start of the chainsaw. However, a few customers have expressed concerns about the sluggishness of the start of this Husqvarna chainsaw.

Noise & Vibration

The Husqvarna 435 has a trademark LowVibe system, that is designed to reduce the vibration levels significantly, so as to make operating the machine more convenient. Stihl 211 too, has an anti-vibration system that reduces the vibration levels of the machine. Between the two, the Stihl 211 is known to produce lower vibrations.

Additional Features

Stihl 211 chainsaws are also equipped with the trademark Quickstop chain brake of Stihl. In the case of a kickback, this system stops the rotation of the chain immediately. This makes the chainsaw safer. The Husqvarna 435 also has an upgraded inertia-activated chain brake, which makes this chainsaw safe to use too.

The Stihl 211 also has a pre-separation filter system in place, which extends the life of your filter and reduces your maintenance. The Husqvarna 435 features a centrifugal air cleaning system that helps in keeping the filters cleaner for a longer duration of time. They also cause reduced exhaust emissions as compared to other chainsaws. Husqvarna 435 also features a quick-release air filter that maximizes the ease of cleaning and maintaining the air filter.

The Stihl 211 features the trademark IntelliCarb Compensating Carburetor. This automatically detects the air/fuel ratio anytime the air filter becomes clogged and maintains the correct RPM. One more characteristic feature that the Stihl 211 has over the Husqvarna 435 is the Winter/Summer Shutter. This allows the carburetor to work at any time of the year at optimum temperatures, despite the weather, without any hassle.

Warranty

The Husqvarna 435 is protected with a standard warranty of 2 years by the manufacturer. However, this warranty can be extended to 4 years on purchase of three fuels cans of 32 ounces of Husqvarna pre-mix fuel. The product needs to be registered online to avail the extended warranty. The Stihl 211, in comparison, comes with a 2-year warranty for domestic use, and a warranty of 1 year for use in a commercial setting.

Summary

Both Husqvarna 435 and Stihl 211 are extremely efficient and reliable chainsaws. Between the two, the Stihl 211 seems to showcase a greater number of useful features although the Husqvarna 435 is not too far behind. At list price the Husqvarna 435 cost a bit less than the Stihl 211 (It is important to note that prices can change due to a sale). If the price difference does not bother you, we recommend Stihl 211 for a handheld chainsaw for domestic use. However, if you choose the Husqvarna 435, you will not be left disappointed either.
